New wi-fi ADSL modem/router

The current two telscum wi-fi ADSL modem/routers at work are on the fritz - losing sync and wi-fi disconnecting,

What is the best wi-fi ADSL modem/router in the R1k price range?

(That is R1k per modem.)

It's pretty much your pick between a D-Link DSL-2750U or a Netgear DGN2200M or a Cisco Linksys WAG120N.

Very similar performance - the D-Link and Netgear however both have the option of 3G Failover support.

The WAG120N is very entry level.
Also, I'm not sure how good the SNR margins are on the Cisco ADSL modems.

Check out the TP-Link W8960N too. It is on par with the D-Link DSL-2750U, except that it does not have an USB port, and most likely does not have a silly sticker that is incredibly difficult to remove when unpacking the modem.

R1.700 gets your gigabit adsl router , with wireless speeds up to 600mps , though you probably don't need it

I have had great use out of Netgear products they just seem to work so I would look at them and the features if price is not as restrictive a factor.
Do you have a lot of wireless usage in the office? If you do then higher speed wireless provided the adapters in the laptops can handle it would be cool.

Thanks Tim. The problem is that I have to buy 2. If the total amout goes over R2k for the 2, I have to get 5 quotes and chances are that it will get canned.

With the slow internet speeds in SA, I don't see the point of spending a great deal on a router. I just bought a TP-Link W8960 which has ADSL 2+ and 300mb wireless speeds. It cost R 720,00

The TP Links are good value for money (so far - mine have been going for about a year now without issues)

Oh wait, just realized its for work - dunno how the TP's will perform under that sort of load - at home I have three wired (into a TP switch - smallest, cheapest one) from switch into Adsl router plus two laptops, two tablets and 3 smartphones.

In this case I'd probably go for the Netgear DGN2200 (or DGN2200M) myself, which should cost between 1000 and 1200 each.

If it is for work, then perhaps consider getting like a D-Link DSL-2500U (standalone ADSL modem with Broadcom chipset) and an enterprise WiFi AP like the Ubiquiti Enterprise AP: http://www.scoopdistribution.co.za/product_info.php?cPath=101_75&products_id=1129
In a setup like this you'll have to connect the two with a 100/1000Mbps switch, otherwise you won't have any LAN ADSL connectivity.

Hi Snail112 I know getting 5 quotes is a bit painful but if it gets you a better network maybe it is worth the pain. Pada's suggestion is also a good one.
