New WikiLeaks spy files

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange launched the website’s new project Thursday, the publication of hundreds of files detailing a global industry that gives governments tools to spy on their citizens.
 
The requirement of encrypting your private communication channels is becoming more and more important these days.
 
Many of the advertisers claim to be able to overcome any type of encryption. There was an article a few months back citing GPUs in display cards being able to crack any level of encryption in a vastly faster time that a regular PC with a CPU

Graphics card are not used to "crack' the encryption. Even standard encryption today is good enough to stop rich government agencies from getting to simple home user's data, once encrypted.

What you're referring to is graphics cards being used to perform brute force attacks, basically "guessing" (usually incrementally) the password/key repeatedly very quickly, which with a good password even future hardware would take so long to find the password it still wouldn't find it within their children's lifetime, even that's being overly optimistically quick.
