Not sure if true...
It's self-evidently true. Keyless entry doesn't work outside of a tiny radius, not even of the vehicle itself, but of the very button you press to unlock.
There's a difference between a transponder and a remote transmitter...
The key-less entry stuff is transponder based, just like the immobiliser is. There's a transponder in the key body.
I guess it's possible to clone that transponder as well, but probably not quite as easy as harvesting a transmission from a remote which travels a LOT further (I can unlock my car from nearly 30m away)
I once locked my house keys in the boot, took me hours to figure out how to get them out.
So is there a way to fix it? Because you know the insurance companies are gonna have a field day if any of this can be proven.
