Newbie Needs Advice

I don't particularly like the IDS and Paradox systems. My mom has one in CT and it is a pain in the arse to keep working.
Mine just kills batteries, but I'd ascribe that to the loadshedding we experienced this year.

I'm going to play around with a PI and some sensors. If I can manage to get it right I'll try hook into home assistant and try get that to manage my alarm. We'll use the existing alarm until then.

Thanks for the help.
Just remember that most Pi or ESP based DIY alarm implementations don't make use of EOL (End of Line) sensing resistors (like the Konnected.io). I'm not sure if this is an insurance requirement, but they might give you grief if your policy requires an alarm to be installed and they see it isn't a 'branded' panel. I'm no expert, but I can see how they can try and repudiate a claim if the assessor picks up on this should you have a burglary.
