News 24 using my image without permission

So I was browsing News 24 earlier when I came across the following story:

and I thought "hang on, I'm pretty sure this is my image"! So I did a quick reverse image search and I found the full-sized image on Pinterest which had been taken off my now defunct imageshack account.

The full sized image also has my signature in the corner but is not visible in the cropped News24 image and they credit Pinterest for the image.

I have sent News24 a message on their FB site really just asking them to credit me since I am no pro photographer and would be keen just to see my image credited on a large news site and not necessarily be paid for it.

Anyone have any idea if I am within my rights to have News24 credit me and any additional rights I may have?

I just think it's a bit of a cheek for such a large money making organisation to just google an image which clearly has the photogrophers name on it and then just not credit them.

I think it may also depend on the Pinterest rights too - have you checked those ?

Na I haven't but it wasn't me who put it on Pinterest. It was a 3rd party.

I think Pintrest will take it down for you if you make a claim that it was used without permission, I think that like Facebook, one you upload it there they own it

The picture credit demand is reasonable.

What is not reasonable is "The baseline version is used as a troop transporter", the baseline version is used as an Infantry Fighting Vehicle. If they wanted to just transport troops they'd use a samil.

Once again, we're really sorry about this. Our team should not be using Pinterest to source images in the first place.

Yeah, I took that photo back in 2010. Wasn't exactly clued up on the whole copyright/watermark thing. Tried to be too fancy and chose a funny font for it. Still think they could have made it out though.

Or at the very least used their vast resources to pay for a proper image from a variety of sources instead of using google image search. I think thats what pisses me off even more, they are just being lazy and cheap.

Ok I concede. To someone who did not know what they were looking for they would not have made that out. I suppose I was blinded by the fact that I reversed image searched that pic and just saw my name exactly were I expected it to be.
