News server.

I like Grabit because you can set it to decode, unrar and then delete source files automatically. Not sure if any other readers have this functionality?

Hello ,

I'm new to posting here even though I regulary check out the forums. OK now that I got that out of the way , I just wanted to add that so far Grab-it is by far the best tools to use , I used news leecher plus some others and I find Grab-it to be the best. Just my 2 cents....:)

Hi there ,

Can you perhaps share as to where I can find those NZB search engines ?

Many Thanks
Your best bet, for obvious reasons, is newshost.za.net but apart from that two of my favourites are nzbsrus.com and nzbmatrix.com. In fact I would wager that a large portion of the nzbs at newshost originated from these two.

Also try www.merlins-portal.net and www.newzleech.com :) Although the latter is not a formal archive of NZB's, it's one of those sites that searches indeces of files on USENET and allows you to create your own NZB's, so a bit more advanced over point-click-download, nevertheless not too difficult ;)

EDIT: Can we please not lock this thread ? Mods ?! If we have one thread on news-servers, then all questions can be put in this thread and this will prevent tons of new news-server related threads (esp. since local will soon no longer count towards the cap ;)) All other related threads can then immediately be closed/locked as soon as opened. Just a thought, coz just about every other news-server thread is locked, leaving people little choice other than creating a new thread esp. since newszhost is not nearly as active and as full of knowledge as this forum :)

I dont understand, you guys say dont download articles? When i import a nzb, then it downloads articles in 300kb sizes in the little window at the bottom right. It also does some headers. I always delete the par2 files out of the downloads window, but will download them if there is a problem with the file.

What they mean is don't download articles the old way. You used to download all the headers and then select the articles that you want to download. Now the .nzb just collects the articles together so you don't have to select them. You still have to download the articles to get what you want.

I was pleasantly surprised when I downloaded an nzd frm newsleech i think it was that it sourced from news.is.co.za.

EDIT: ofc when i think abut it, my newsreader only has news.is.co.za as an option.

;) :D

BTW - set yourself up with a dummy account if you want to make life easier and queue the par files to download via that server. When you find out how many you need you just change it back. :)

When do think this will happen ?

I cannot say, it looks hopeful for November 2007. Well lets put it like this, this is when Telkom say that they will have upgraded the necessary parts of thier network to be able to differentiate between local and international to allow local to not count towards the cap as required in the regualtions. This is AFAIK, corrections welcome if im wrong :D
