sorry guys, you must be tired of all my posts/questions :)

One last thing...

Will NZB-SA work on MWeb? I know NZB is not the greatest, but I still need to be invited onto Newshost.

I'm now probably going to cancel my Afrihost account and switch to MWeb...but I use NZB a lot, so it has to work on MWeb if I am to join with them.

Thanks for all the great help/advice! :)

it does.

though i have problem connect though alt-binz the news client for downloading.

grabit and the web based client works fine.

[hereticangel] thank you

It seems Afrihost won't refund me pro rata for March...so I'll only be switching to MWeb in April. :(

I use Alt.Binz as well...so guess I'll have to download Grabit and learn how to configure that program next month.

You can still download the .nzb files from NZB-SA, but NZB-SA doesn't report the availability of the contents on the Mweb news servers.

I just use nzbmatrix.com, since I wrote a script to get the latest .nzb files from it so that Alt.Binz can download it :)

I don't see the point of using NZB-SA if you're going to move to Mweb uncapped.

SABNZBD is by far the most efficient NZB client in my opinion

Efficient, but not for noobs. I'm guessing he won't know how to use it given that he's not sure whether NZBs from different sites will work on different Usenet servers.

heh, you have a point there :) OP should also note, one can never be invited to newshost, the only way to obtain membership is during those few golden hours once a year when they're open for signup, or if there's a promotion at Oppikoppi or something.
tbh, if i had uncapped access i wouldn't bother with the local indexes, sysop always has to fiddle with code he doesn't seem to understand himself and then it takes forever to fix

SABnzbd is VERY easy to setup if you already have a Linux distro installed. Like with Ubuntu, you simply install SABnzbd via the package manager and then you're almost set to go :D

Have had no issues with Alt.Binz ..... it's all I use.

Me as well.

ALt.Binz works like a dream on mweb uncapped... I dont like Grabit, because when I used it on MWeb uncapped. I got a lot of download errors and when I switched to Altbinz they all disapeared.
