I remember seeing a post here a few days ago re: all the adverts displayed on news24 - I see they have now taken it a step further by having click through ads that you have to close to read an article -

This is disgusting - and it seems to be OLX - I now no longer want to use either site -

Before someone mentions it - no ad blockers on work pc.

/Rant

news24 has become such a tabloid anyway - misleading and antagonising headlines. Naspers should be embarrassed.

i thought people only go to news24 to fight?

Have to agree, and even after closing all the rubbish, there are still toolbars at the bottom of the page. Wasted bandwidth and time...

Agreed, freaking insane, i go to the site 10 times a day, also looking for alternative. Weak reporting and crappy site, even if you manage to move your mouse in such a way as to avoid having giant layover ads pop up over everything

Yea that's why I dig Mail & Guardian and Eyewitness News, they actually have reporters doing proper reporting on-scene. News24 on the other hand copy these, and then throw them in between their regurgitated sex and celebrity BS.

Eyewitless news is terrible.

News they report live on radio at 3pm will sometimes not even make the website until tomorrow if ever.

If it's good enough for news why not good enough for the web ?

IOL is for last weeks articles from overseas papers.

News24 is probably the best for breaking news but generally the standards of web-journalism are piss-poor.

I realized after reading the comments on News24.... that its not the type of place I should get my news from.
