Newshost via Neotel

Hi All,

Does anyone know if Newshost works on a Neotel connection.

Because I download the NZB link but GRABIT can't connect to the server.

Please help!!!

Newshost.co.za is a private website to download nzb files from. Thats all - there's nothing more there. There is no content.

If you're looking for a news server (where the actual content is hosted) then you need to contact NeoTel to see if they offer access. If not then you'll need to go the commercial news server route - giganews/easynews/etc.

Newshost is merely a website - like any other. The actual things you are wanting to download are located on servers elsewhere. You need a SAIX or IS account to access either of these news servers.

Im using GRABIT and tried using SAIX and newshost.co.za connection settings yet it doesn't connect.

The SAIX news server is only accessible from SAIX based ADSL accounts.

The IS news server is only accessible from IS based ADSL accounts.

Because of the aforementioned you need to find out if NeoTel offers a news server.

I personally use Giganews (with Giganews settings) on my Neotel account.

The only sucky thing is you have to pay for access to Giganews, but the nice thing is, Giganews gets stuff way faster than Newshost goes (basically because Newshost gets it's stuff FROM Giganews or the like)

NZBMatrix is a very good site, but to get 'full' access, you have to donate $10 (once off)

Thanks for clearing that up - a paid news server is clearly the best bet then.

I used to recommend Easynews but their service levels have dropped recently - too many missing files to be worthwhile.

ask Newshost how they cover the cost of the terrabytes they transfer for free? and where there servers are located to retain all the GB's downloaded.

Newshost only holds the files (nzb's) which point your downloader (grabit) to where the file is located on a news server, which are run by big companies. Like IS or Saix.

though you can get news server use internatioanlly from people like giganews.

I repeat if NEWSHOST closed down... we could all still carry on downloading exactly hte same, they have zero influence on the news server. its just an easy way to find whats on news servers.
