Looking to upgrade a part of my computer but don't have too much money, so I think I will take it one at a time. These are my specs:

Gigabyte 965P-S3 Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 @ 1.86GHz
2x Transcend 512mb DDR2-800 SDRAM
XFX NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GTX 512mb
Seagate 160GB SATA-II Hardrive 8MB Cache
Western Digital 320GB SATAII Hardrive 16MB Cache (windows installation)
500W PSU

Microsoft Windows XP Home SP2

What should I upgrade next?
I am thinking that lag in games is more caused by my slow processor than my graphics card.
Will getting more RAM make a difference to speed/load times etc.

MANY MANY MANY thanks!!!
Andrew

Since you have a 32bit os adding more ram isn't going to help much. Maybe adding 1 gig more will probably help a bit.

Upgrading the gfx to something like an 8800gt would be your best bet.

More RAM might help, as you only have 1GB.
No use going for more than 2GB due to 32bit OS.
RAM is also very cheap at the moment.

Definitely the ram.

You could also spend some bux on a nice aftermarket cooler and overclock that CPU.

I tried to overclock it, but stuff started messing up.
So RAM will make my computer run faster?
Should I buy 2 512 sticks?
And should they be the same speed, do they have to be the same munufacturer?

either 2x512mb or 2x1gig so you'll have 3 gig, its better to stick to the same speed, if you get slower then all the ram just clocks down to that speed

LEARN HOW TO OVERCLOCK YOUR CPU

i got that same cpu from 1.86ghz to 3.22ghz without much effort

then you dont need a cpu upgrade

you could get that cpu easily to 2.8ghz on air

pm me i'll send my bios oc if you need help since i have the exact same baord

more ram will help alot but u better buy now cause prices are so cheap

OC that CPU like the man says, then add 2x512mb, or even better, 1GB Ram.
Then a Vf900Cu eg. for the graphics card and OC that

Ok thanks alot for your guys help. Can you direct me to a site where I can buy RAM? Also I think my graphics card is overheating or something cause my computer restarts when I play games? I have the Aerocool ExtremEngine 3t, How can I cost effectively make my computer cooler, is there a cheap watercooling system I can buy?

I usually use Prophecy if online.

Your case is fine. You need a new cooler for that card tho. I recommend the Vf900Cu as usual.

Watercooling is a bit of a mission.
