How do you contact anyone at Nextgennews? I decided to buy a block account to test, it worked for a bit then died and now it tells me I have the incorrect username or password.

I cannot change the password on the site either because their captcha fields are broken, nor can I send any support queries for the same reason.

Thnx DrJohnZoidberg - bug found, and a 5GB "finders fee" will be allocated to your account. We'll have that resolved shortly through out the site.

UPDATE: Sorted. Live chat was working, missed it the first time. Spoke to Chris, reported the issue and is being looked into.

Touch wood - it looks like it is fixed (you've just really had incredibly bad timing :)). We've rolled out new code to the NNTP Cluster to optimize how we manage sessions (upgrades required for our new web site going live in the next week or two), and it looks like there was a slight flaw in part of the logic - we should have tested better, I do apologize, again. It seems to be fixed now and we're continuing to monitor to see whether there are any other possible issues that may arise.

We will fix the CAPTCHA thing as well tonight still...

Hi,

Are there issues with the nextgennews servers at the moment? I am not able to connect to 119 or their web site

Hi,

Yes, we are down. We did send a mass mail about the issue out to our customers. Didn't want to mention this in the mass mail, but a certain techie at a certain hosting provider decided it was a GREAT idea to rip a hard drive out of one of our most critical servers (pushing over 3Gbps in traffic), and reinstall a blanket os on a new drive *slaps forehead*.

After numerous phone calls to a support desk, the "OS configurations is my problem." Needless to say we're frantically reinstalling (but it DOES take time to re-install a OS through a IP KVM on ADSL), and afterwards all services will be restored (nothing has been lost).

I'm hopeful we will be back online before tomorrow morning, and someone in the Netherlands is getting a VERY unpleasant phone call tomorrow morning from me.

As of shortly before 2AM, most services are back online again. We are monitoring and fixing minor issues as we pick them up.

Please be patient your clients will still show the odd errors here and there as the load stabilizes over the cluster. The servers are working incredibly hard at the moment.

How is the DMCA takedown issues with nextgennews? Are articles removed quickly ? R80 for 100Gig block is not too bad..

They are THE ONLY ones that are actually not so much affected by the DMCA takedowns.

I have a block account with them set up as a backup server in SABnzbd with a paid EU based usenet server so when the DMCA strikes my EU server on popular content the missing parts get downloaded with nextgen news. Best solution for me.
