Nice article on DSTV HD

It's not very detailed, but the 2 main things that are different since that is that VOD is now available on the 4 tuner HDPVRs and there shouldn't be incomplete recordings unless you have an installation problem.
And MUDs are supported, even if not officially (I think they are officially supported now though)

And that article seems based on the 4 tuner Pace, even though at the date of the article the UEC was also available

Well...

Firstly, there is the cabling "issue". You don't need 4 cables from the LNB to the decoder, you need 2 with a 2x4 multiswitch. You needed 2 with the old dual view and the SD PVR too. If you only have 1 cable and you can't get a second cable through, you can opt for a SatCR LNB as the HD PVR is SatCR capable. This will be slightly more expensive than a twin and multiswitch. I've not including XtraView options here...

The complex "issue" is not a Multichoice issue, the body corp needs to upgrade their system. Since the first dual view came out, 2 cables were needed to give full functionality. If the body corp or developer has not allowed for this, you need to take it up with them. On single cable distribution systems you only need one cable. If the installation was done properly with a 10 dB line amp and a 4-way satellite splitter splitting the one feed to the 4 inputs... and if the network settings has been added correctly, this is also not an issue.

Speed and freezing has never been an issue for me. I run one at home and I've been involved with many issues, while helping out installers (mostly installation and the odd faulty decoder).

VOD is now supported.

4th HD channel (another SuperSport channel) starting in August, with more to follow.

I would advise though, to rather get the Pace than the UEC. This is if you are going the 2 x record (4 tuner) route.

And I would advise the UEC rather (unless going the complex route which QT has advised is not friendly to UECs), I haven't used my 4 tuner Pace since getting 2P
Pace 2P is also a good buy though, especially if you already have an SDPVR

:D

Common Smurf. Ask any installer which 4 tuner he prefers... At our place, the Pace is flying out the doors, while the UEC is always in stock.

Edit: Also... in XtraView setups, the UEC has more issues.

Well I suspect your Pace moves quicker because you're recommending it :p

I would agree with the XV on UECs, my XV port setting is RF out but its using RF in, my RF out feeds through to the bedroom
