Nice restuarant for 1st wedding anniversary

My wife and I celebrate our 1st anniversary on Sunday! Any recommendations of a romantic restaurant that we can celebrate the big day on on Sunday afternoon?
 
I have heard good things about The Birdcage, but not been there. Maybe someone can give a review :)
 
Congrats. Wife & I are heading towards our 3rd early in May, but next week Thursday we're celebrating 11 years together. You might want to consider revisiting a place from the past - first date... where you proposed... etc. I find that's always a hit.
 
Thanks for the Vilamoura, I'll be at the Intercontinental next month, guess I should give it a try.
 
Should probably mention that a decent vegetarian menu is a must. :o
 
Wife and I went to (in no order of marriage years...just experience I recall):

The Bad
Vilamoura - Food was dry, overpriced. Ambiance was not great all, no effort made even when I mentioned it was our wedding anniversary. Small fruit flies in our wine, replaced with new glasses...and I still had 1 in my new glass. We were not impressed at all. Informed management, wines were taken off the bill...but ja...was not a nice experience in total

Browns - This is tough...we went one year, it was amazing...went another year, it was 3 or 4 outta 5 (food wasnt so nice). So its a tough one this...one good experience...one ok. Nice atmosphere...but not much effort made on their part with our anniversary.

The Good
Michaelangelo Restaurant / Piccolo Mondo - Been there twice = STUNNING!! Food was amazing, they treated us like royalty. Told them before hand it was anniversary...got given desserts (free) of decadent chocolate cake, with "Happy Anniversary" chocolate sticking out each one. Got another plate of goodies...happy anniversary written around outside of plate in chocolate. Both times...just amazing, can not fault them!!

Da Vincenzo - Also stunning place. Food was great, wonderful atmosphere! Was a while ago we went to this one...so cant remember details, but I do remember thinking it was great and will one day go back.

Thanks Crazy for the report, not gonna go to Vilamoura. But now it's not about me anyway, back to BCO

Light some candles. Throw some pillows on the floor. And have a "picnic" in your living room with some food you prepared yourself. (Or even order some platter from some catering place) Add some music (that she likes) and maybe a DVD (that she likes) that you can watch while sitting on the floor. Skip the flowers or get her one flower of her favourite kind.

Restaurants are the mainstream easy way out. Some effort from your part goes a lot further.
 
If you don't mind spending a little, well maybe more than a little, more... Bellgables, off Beyers on the way to the Cradle of Humankind. You'd need to book 'tho.
