When I had Skype on my work PC I joined a group chat. Then I was asked to remove Skype from my PC & so I never used Skype in a long time.

Now, I have downloaded Nimbuzz for my BB 8900 & I signed into my Skype account & every few seconds my phone is going crazy cos some guys are chatting flatout! How do I leave this group chat without downloading Skype & logging in to exit the chat? Someone must have experienced this before?

Dunno, so you're syaing you need Skype to leave / join groups? Sounds a bit backwards , have you tried another client maybe? Here's 2 more that works with skype

IM+ : This one costs $30, but got all the bells and whistles for Skype : http://www.shapeservices.com/en/products/details.php?product=skype&platform=bb
ISkoot : Free, Skype only and it was very slow and unoptimized for my BB screen [everything is tiny etc]. http://iskoot.com/products/skype

IM+ is my favorite, but it costs moola , Nimbuz is "good enough" , but it is free. Iskoot , didn't like it but it does resemble the skype client.

Thanks diabolus.

After no response, I just downloaded Skype, logged in & exited the group chat & everything is fine.

When you go to Settings in Nimbuzz, there is an option under Connection Settings that says Start Up Connection. Do I leave it as Automatic or BIS? I don't want to pay anything extra on my account.

Safest would be BIS , but if you use WiFi at home and want it to automatically switch to wifi then you'll have to specify automatic. What i do , i disable my APN Settings [under Options ->Advanced -> TCP/IP ] which means my phone will not be able to connect via the paid 3G ever . This way i know immediately which apps don't use BIS because they simply won't work. The catch is of course, if i do have apps i want to use that don't use BIS, i need to switch the APN settings on everytime. Luckily 99% of time i don't need to do it. I also have WiFi at home and want my phone to switch to Wifi [it's a million times faster] when at home, so all my apps' settings are always "automatic" .
