Nintendo Switch - Model upgrade

Still speculation that there's another model coming out... also...

"Nintendo’s site doesn’t offer any specifics, so until we see a press release or someone gets their hands on the HAC-001(-01) (which will likely appear in stores as just “Nintendo Switch”), we can’t say for sure what all has changed with the new model. "

Jip, seems

That's a good point... as with the New 3DS.

It was the BS of introducing the SNES virtual console only on the new 3DS that seriously piised me off. Then they gave the stupid excuse of the original 3DS won't play SNES games because it is not powerful enough. Man, Nintendo make you crazy some times. I was already playing SNES ROMs on my original 3DS XL at the time.

But interesting battery upgrade which will be pushing it's life above the Lite, before the Lite actually launches.

I still want to see the Pokemon graphics compared to the Switch to the 3DS.

They've just dropped in the new "Mariko" T214 Tegra with it's smaller 10nm process, same one they're using in the Lite. There won't be a "new switch", will just keep selling as the old one with the new chips in.

Nice! I guess they decided that on the trade-off they could make between power and battery, battery takes priority. It's also probably a lot easier to implement than wedging a new performance profile onto developers. Kind of a pity though, there's a lot of games that could really use a speed bump for their performance and resolutions.

To me the most interesting application is overclocking. You can get quite a bit of a boost in docked mode.

I'm sure the chips are running well below threshold by default, but that was a Nintendo decision for a reason.Personally I wouldn't feel comfortable overclocking mine. For the games that I do play, seems perfectly fine to me,but then again I use handheld 90% of the time

Yeah it's very much a do-it-at-your-own-risk thing to overclock it. But there are some games that can get a nice boost, like Doom or Senua's Sacrifice - especially where they're using adaptive resolutions.

But if you could overclock the new Switches it could be pretty badass. I'd be happy with something that had the same battery life as the old Switch but enough performance to run everything without frame or resolution drops.
