I purchased a demo qashqai a few months back.Ive had endless issues with the gearbox. In the 2nd month the dealers had it for 5 weeks! They kept telling me parts were on backorder from overseas.I noticed a grating/grinding noise between 2nd and 3rd.That is now resolved. Now i have the same issue between 1st and 2nd!
Ive taken it back to the dealerships approx 8 times now. They get a guy to test drive it for 10min then say no problems.

Any advice what to do in this situation?Anyone had similar experiences?

Try a different dealer that has a better reputation. If that fails get on the group's CEO ,CFO and marketing directors case telling them that you will be approaching cart blanche as well as numerous media outlets about their pathetic service if this is not sorted and treated as a matter of urgency.

Had a levina X-Gear, gearbox issue between 2nd and 3rd.
Took it to the kempton dealer they did nothing. Eventually I got so fed up and took it to Nissan Menlyn. They replaced the entire gearbox.

Herd aswell with the 1.6 Qashqai they got a problem with the turbo failing if the fuel goes below 1/4.

A friend of mine has a 1.6 as well. But the previous model.
Had to have the syncro on 3rd gear replaced also had to have one of the inner CV joints replaced at R8000.

Mine is a 2016 qashqai 1.6T its done 15000kms.When i said it needs a new gearbox they gave me a long story.I said the car is less than a year old i dont want it fixed but replaced. They not interested in doing that.
I will take advice above and go to another dealership.Im told they dont do in-house gearbox repairs but have a nissan approved engineering firm.Cant say i trust them.

Invoke CPA. Make sure you do it before 6 months has elapsed. Start a social media campaign.

This guy "apparently" got a new car after he did this:

What dealership did you get it from? Is it Financed? How many months ago did you get it?

If less than 6months old, under the Consumer Protection Act, you have the right to demand a Refund, Replacement or Repair.

@Tsepz_011. Does this apply to New vehicles only or used vehicles?

I believe it applies to both. Any deal that is done with a dealership is covered by this act.

If you bring it up to them they should jump. As long as you can prove that the car has a mechanical fault.

I personally signed up to FNB Law-On-Call early last year's a few months before buying a car, and asked them what my rights were if anything is wrong and they explained this to me.

Evidence is required though, it can't just be talk, so ensure you take the vehicle to an accredited dealer OR take it to AA, ask them to give you a report on the car that thoroughly explains the issue, with that you will have a solid case.

Get hold of the factory rep.

Moved to other dealers. New mechanic's are trained to swop oil, and ask the computer what to replaced. Only an old ear can fix your problem.
