I have recently, 2 days ago, taken out a CellC broadband contract. I live in Durbanville and work in Cape Town CBD. Nowhere can I get 3G reception on my iPad. Vodacom on the other hand had no such problems. CellC only gives me EDGE which is ridiculously slow.

Can anyone please give me advice or solutions to solve this problem.

Alternatively has anyone cancelled a contract with CellC in terms of the Consumer Protection Act and what is the process one should follow?

I really don't think it's unreasonable to expect to have 3G coverage with a broadband contract!

Any advice would be appreciated.

CellC any responses from you perhaps?

If you didn't receive a device with the contract, just the sim, you can call Customer Service and request a cancellation. They charge nothing for the cancellation. Be warned that before you are done talking with them, the simcard will be blocked and you will no longer be able to do so much as make a call.

Did you get the iPad with the contract?

If not, do you have an iPad 1? IIRC, Apple only started supporting UMTS900 (which is what Cell-C's 3G/HSPA network uses) in the iPad 2 and iPhone 4.

Thanks for the advice. Must say never heard of UMTS before so didn't know this could be a problem.

To confirm I do use an iPad 1. Is it then safe to assume that I will be able to run 3G on my ipad 1 on all networks other than CellC?

Guess that means canceling the CellC contract because no Internet is better than Internet this slow!

Pretty much, yeah. Isn't it time for an upgrade though? :p
