Let me say it like this. Dstv I find useful. I have no need to Netflix. Netflix you find useful. You have no need for Dstv. Different markets.

Not everyone waits for steam sales. That's why there's a gaming industry - people actually pay for games when they are released.

Fact stand if you are patient you can get games for a much cheaper price..Can't do the same for dstv . Hence pc games much better value then dstv premium if you shop wisely...

So the comparison of dstv being good value compared to one pc game is simply wrong.

Disagree. Netflix is at a reasonable price if you consider what you get, I pay R169, but I have the fancy package with 4 simultaneous streams and 4k, the standard packages are less.

DSTV Premium is completely overpriced. Should be R499 max.

I have the same Netflix package. Netflix has a different business model in terms of its world wide coverage. DSTV cannot compete on that basis.

Disagree. How many people are patient?

Again I say that the gaming industry exists because there are a large number of people willing to pay for release day games.

Much the same for DSTV.

In fact, it is even more extreme for gaming in that there is a pre-order option for games.

I cancelled my subscription years ago.

My value proposition for DSTV is R499 for DSTV Premium, I will re-subscribe at that price.

Or R249 just for the Sport.

I do sometimes subscribe to ShowMax, probably about 1 Month every 4 Months (for HBO)

But that's exactly it. It is your right to vote with your wallet if you think something is too expensive.

But it is not right to use that to proudly justify piracy. I'm not saying that people wont pirate, but I do have an issue with the entitlement of saying/screaming "because I can't (won't) afford it, it justifies my piracy".

many South Africans find none useful because they can't afford either, what a shame rugby is now for only those who can afford dstv and uncapped to enjoy, what a shame
