"Peace is not possible in an unequal world," President Cyril Ramaphosa said at the 8th Annual Desmond Tutu International Peace Lecture in Cape Town on Monday night.

Ramaphosa did not say a word about under-fire Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene, but focused on the topic at hand and emphasised economic and gender inequality as a means to achieve peace.

"We cannot speak of true freedom when 10% of the population has more wealth than 90% combined," Ramaphosa said.

"Until we build a South Africa where the wealth is shared among all the people and the land is shared among all who work it, we will not have lasting peace," Ramaphosa said.



He said efforts to radically transform the economy to make it more inclusive, was located within the restorative justice Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu dedicated his life to.

"Truth and reconciliation will not be complete until we acknowledge inequality and take steps to remedy it."

There's inequality in every country and they seem to do just fine, with most doing better than us. We already have one of the highest income tax rates in the world for our GDP and economy. So people here are already doing their part to fund government's socialism goals.
 
Ramaphosa seems to be latching on to the normal anc propaganda.

Thats a simple Political push, inaquality is made up of a lot of components, which is hardly ever be possible for each human......UNLESS future babies are all cloned the same, but would that be boring-?
 
Ramaphosa has it exactly backwards.

Lack of peace comes from 1. Injustice, and/or 2. lust for the property of others and perversity of heart.

Using the power of the State to take away the property of some and redistribute it to others in the name of equality is to entrench injustice and therefore guarantee conflict and lack of peace.

It assails the natural right each person has to the free and indisturbed ownership of the fruits of his labour, and thus plants the seeds of war.

Start by giving each person in this country R100, he'll still have money left over, probably way more than his net worth entails with all the connections he's got.

Someone should tell Rhamadingdong about Zipf's law and that equality is BS. Typical SJW/ANC mentality. Hates reality, but unfortunately for them reality always comes back to destroy their BS beliefs.

And 1% of the population is the entire planet Earth has more wealth than 99% combined.

If you took the combined wealth of the top 50 richest people in South Africa and distributed it, each person in the country would get roughly R4000. Just enough to cover school feels and food for 1 month.

Equality is everyone having the same chance. Nice pipe dream but the only authority that can actually perpetuate and institutionalise real inequality is the government. The issue is when you try and address so-called inequality by treating some as "more equal" than others.
 
The inequality is due to your party being at the helm for 25 years and not doing a damn thing about it.
Education in the toilet, small businesses struggle to get off the ground because of stupid red tape and bee, the government departments can't do anything due to computers always being offline and lunch for everyone at the same time, a corrupt police force, failing and old infrastructure, no new infrastructure in 25 years, no new hospitals, highways, airports, anything that's related to the government is crumbling museums included, CBDs that are no longer safe or CBDs, no real growth in tourists cause of stupid rules.
Sheesh my list actually doesn't seem to end so I'll stop it, but yeah blame 10% and we know that your looking at which half forgetting there are quite a few black middle class now

I wanted to post the same. 25 years the ANC has runned the country. It's on THEM how **** it has turned out.

Ou Ramaphosa is just as useless as the previous president. I really thought he might be what SA needed (you know businessman etc) when he was voted in... lol. He is just another mouthpiece of the useless ANC.
