NO HDMI passthrough on AMP

I've got a situation where my HDMI passthrough does not seem to work on my amp. I can't remember if this ever worked, as I have always used the optical audio input. According to the manual the amp does support it and it should "just work" but I've tried everything and can't seem to come right. (different HDMI ports, settings etc.)

So I have HDMI going from Roku to AMP, and to TV. I have pic and sound on TV alone, no sound from AMP.

Is there a converter that will take HDMI, split it to Optical + HDMI ?

Yes, an HDMI audio extractor will do the trick -> https://avsupply.co.za/product_info.php/converters-hdmi-audio-extractor-converter-p-676

Out of stock at the moment, will be getting more next week. If you plan on connecting multiple HDMI devices at a later stage, the 4x1 HDMI with Audio Extractor is a nice product. Very popular and also out of stock. Will have more next week

See our Audio Extractor section for all the options available -> https://avsupply.co.za/index.php/audio-visual-audio-extractors-c-26_118

Thanks Guys.

I will wait for AVSupply to get stock as I already have account with him.

Which Amp?
Is this a DSTV Explora that won't "pass-through"?

Its the 7.2 Sony entertainment centre. So that sort of amp.

Using a Roku 3 now, but I remember having issues with my previous ATV 2 as well. But due to ATV having both ports, it worked for me. I thought of just getting a new media device that has both HDMI and optical out, but both the new Roku 4 and ATV 4 have HDMI out only.

I'll just retire the Roku 3 to the bedroom.
