According to Eskom there will be no load shedding until May 2016:

We are currently without power and it almost sounds like half of Joburg is down.

Just this week our power in my area went down twice for 4 hours.

Driving down Hendrik Potgieter on Tuesday (If I remember correctly) all the robots were down.

Answers I received from Eskom's call center ranges from they don't know why the power is out but the techies are underway to 'A circuit breaker blew'

What is your experience? Or am I just the only one being in the wrong place at the wrong time perhaps?

They are faults..

Unfortunately with the distribution network being so badly maintained they are happening more often lately.

What does load shedding have to do with these unplanned outages?

I have had constant outages for weeks. In fact, load shedding has never really ended for me.

Monday was 8:30am-1pm. Tuesday basically the same. Wed, 11am-12:30. It's like these phuckwits cannot actually keep the lights on for 24 consecutive hours any more. Eskom said that it was a transformer down the road and something tells me that transformer hasn't seen the light of day since some time in 1994. JHB northern suburbs.

Isolated blackouts aren't the same thing as scheduled rolling blackouts like we see with load shedding.

I've been on and off for the last 2 months now... every day to every other day... its 2 sometime 3 times a day, 1,4,12 hours at a time... , max without a 'fault' has been 3-4day. Today, 12 hours AGAIN so far. Grid is ****ed, no maintenance has taken its toll. Too late for 'quick fixes' in some areas. They can say what they want about 'festivals', have to replace half of jhb. I am off more nowadays than during 'load shedding'. Also find it suspicious that today for example is exactly 12hours. 7am to 7pm. **** it, ****ing **** hole

My electricity hasn't been off since...well since load shedding ended a couple of months ago. Must have something to do with Western Cape and CoCT being run properly?

Guess so............................................

Not to worry, when they rezone all the provinces we'll all be hanging around the camp fire together

My power hasn't been out where I live since I moved in here in August 2013 - except one weekend, which was due to the Body Corporate.

And? Obviously you live in a unique area never allowed to be affected by load shedding or other blackouts. Not applicable to this discussion.

Now that I've calmed down... A lot of my areas issues started during the last batch of load shedding. If you are part of 2A(old 8B) you'd know what I'm talking about. It got to the point that load shedding was a full day event. When turned off, they could never get us back on again. After our 4 hours schedule, we'd sit for hours with lights flashing on and off for another 4 hours while they tried to get us back on and repair what broke. Only info out of them would be the usual '70% has been restored, please be patient' BS. Every bloody time. Just assumed it was ****ing out due to load shedding, but it hasn't stopped, **** is constantly broken and these patch gum and coat hanger repairs they are doing only lasts a few days at most and all starts again, sometimes only affecting the street, or block, but weekly its entire area. Seriously looking into off the grid solution, can't go on with this

just my experience so far has been the places with essential infrastructure nearby to them

dont get hit as hard by 'shedding as others.

just an observation, might be proven wrong by somebody else....
