Very disappointed to find out that my Samsung S6 does not access Telkom Mobile LTE . Ported from CellC to Telkom Mobile after seeing misleading tv ads indicating telkom mobile has the best LTE network . OBVIOUSLY NOT if you are the unfortunate owner of a R10000+ handset that is supposedly LTE capable ! NOT ON TELKOM MOBILE ANYWAY !!

Totally unacceptable that Telkom Mobile aggressively market the S6 but at the same time it is handicapped on their Network ?! My question to Telkom Mobile : What is Telkom Mobile doing to rectify this limitation ? Or are we just going to have to accept second best ?? I doubt if Telkom will respond , so does anyone know if they have any plans to enable LTE for all LTE capable handsets that they sell ??

Telkom Mobile uses 2.3 Ghz for LTE as opposed to other make use of 1.8/2.1/2.6Ghz. Clearly the specs of the S6 do not cover the Telkom freq. If you applied "Caveat Emptor" before entering into contract this problem could have been prevented. Feel sorry for you.

As far as I can see , it should support 4G TDD LTE
B38(2600), B39(1900), B40(2300), B41(2500).

Strange.

Samsung RSA said I must go to SSS Cellular. A repair agent. I emailed them and phoned them but never got an answer. Telkom themselves have not even responded to a Hello Peter post I made. It shocks me more how little of Telkom's own employees and data support agents are aware of this issue. I will continue my efforts at getting this resolved.

I called Samsung and and asked about changing the firmware .The technician explained that the lte bands rely on the hardware. So changing the firmware to 9200i won't help.

One of the main reasons why I went for LG.

This was taken with my bro's phone this morning in Paarden Eiland ,Cape Town.
He got the same results in Maitland.

Anyone here experienced this.

This makes no sense, all LTE devices sold by TM are supported on their network.

Not necessarily if the buyer doesn't do his/her homework. If they can save R200 per device they will take the cheaper option always
