No Man's Sky

Ok, so just had a bit of fun with a weird mission...

Mission sent me to an approximate location on an aquatic world. Mkay. It's dissonant. Great. Sadly no sentinel ships to be found. Fine... So I go to the approximate location for the mission, thinking this'll be quick. Dive a bit. No worries. When I get there it'll be fine.

The "approximate location" takes me here, several minutes of diving later...

1443.7u! So i scan it down ofc. Let's get this done. Must be close... Nope... Offworld. I get in my ship and exit the atmosphere, and sure enough...

The actual mission is on a nearby planet

For an interesting definition of "approximate location"... fun

Very nice, I'm still on an old A class
Had to grind a bit for the S. It's not a massive difference though. Of the stats i consider upgrades essential, 3 supercharge slots is fine. The 4th just let me boost hyper drive range a bit. Mostly did it, because I wanted it. Might decide to boost a frigate mission type rather than the hyper drive.

Yeah my A class already can do 4500ly jump so it's no slouch, my best Explorer is 3000ly.
My old C class from was way back could only do 1690

Hectic. 4500 is intense. I have 4 freighter warp drive upgrades left to get. A bit of salvaged frigate modules grind. That'll total 950LY extra, though I suppose it'll work out to a bit more as the upgrades boost each other a bit. So I'll probably go over 4k, but not sure if I'll reach 4.5k. That said I'm happy to warp around in my normal ship. It's not often that I have to go particularly far.

The stats I care about are:
  • Expedition efficiency
  • Expedition speed
  • Expedition defences
So that frigate expeditions use little fuel, finish quickly, and don't have the frigates limping back broken to be fixed. That said... Never know when these upgrades actually work at any given time. It's started and stopped working so many times already over time.

1h 8m and only uses 50t fuel.

To be fair those two ships only total 3t fuel use/250LY. Which means you'd expect about 50t fuel use for that expedition. Meaning that particular bonus could currently be borked again. But, oh well. Expeditions of +-1000LY use zero fuel again. So who knows? Are you familiar with how the fuel eff. bonuses are applied? I might be missing something.

Okay I definitely need to improve that :), I had 3 super charge slots close by so I boosted those for hyperdrive.
Has helped as when you can warp far with your ship, you sometimes warp out of range to call the freighter back.
I've also not had many frigates broken as I send escorts with them.

Yeah. I read that at long as the fleet rating is 1star above the mission rating, then it should never happen. Still. I decided to go bonkers with the upgrades first.

I actually have to still build out my frigate fleet again. After reading up a bit, and setting out on my freighter grind missions, I got rid of all my >=4t ones. Those two are the only ones left right now

I've got the Normandy and Doomed Frigate in my fleet, I do need to cull some combat frigates got to many of them.
But most of mine are S class now so it's going to be hard to cull as I've got 30 frigates.

That's cool. I'd have to hope they make replays of those expeditions available at some point to get those. For the most part I'm focused on low fuel use frigates though. And I want to get a fair number of organics, since you can tailor them significantly.

That's really gorgeous
Place even has double rainbows at sunrise  It's like they tried.

Right now I'm just coasting until the next expedition. From system to system in an exploration guild region. Redeeming the free stuff, which if I'm lucky includes a Salvaged Frigate module. Sometimes there's a station mission for one. Inspecting every interesting world I scan from the freighter, and each paradise planet/moon.

Nice, currently playing other games.
Though I do want to build a base near a settlement or trading post. I find a spot on an ice planet but I can't remember where :).
Like a proper icy looking base.

I haven't actually explored many settlements. Are there different building themes? My own settlement happens to be on an ice world, but if you know me a bit by now, I suppose you can guess that I wish it was on a paradise world, on a beach  It's simply where the mission took me.

Grab some settlement maps from the map guy in station. You're bound to find one soon enough if you activate them in systems with icy planets.

This my settlement below. There are definitely way better looking ice worlds. Mine looks a bit like the Klondike during the worst of the gold rush. A bit... rugged...

Don't think they are that much different really.
Just want some npcs sort of walking around :) that's what is missing from the game.
Hey you can find a nice frozen world overlooking a frozen lake
That settlement looks better than mine, which seems to have spawned near some rocks I can't even remove. Actually maybe should go take a look after updates.
My first world I built a base on was completely different
