No Man's Sky

I think this game is going to be too big to enjoy with no real objective.

Can someone tell me where the 'fun' element is in this game?

Looks gorgeous though.

Playing Captain Kirk and Spock in discovering new worlds? :p

I can see a problem - bullies will team up and try hostile takeovers of some worlds... not sure how they will prevent that.

Can't freakin' wait for this game. Really hope it gets VR support too.

One of the videos I saw they show how each planet has these sentinels that react to killing and such. If they see you kill something they come after you, the more you fight back the harder they come. Its going to be really hard to dominate a space like that.

You will start at the edges of the universe making your way towards the center

While this is negative for most, because the universe is so massive the chances of stumbling across another player are exceptionally small

I foresee something like DOTLAN being created for NMS

As you get closer to the center of the universe, everything gets increasingly more hostile - sentinels, wildlife, inhabitants of the planet you just discovered etc

Its just an exploration game then.Im interested in the fighting aspect, is that just going to be like star wars where you just shoot each other in space? No COD type battles on the planets?

No NPC's ,no narrative, no story.I think this game is very hyped and is the next Destiny. We shall see.

Have they answered the 'what do you actually do?' question yet?

Your objective is

You will start at the edges of the universe making your way towards the center

How you do that is up to you - exploration/salvaging/trading/fighting are all viable ways of achieving this goal

It's a procedurally generated sandbox universe where no 2 planets will be the same

Wonder if people will be able to buy/trade in-game with bitcoin (or will the game be isolated from real markets?). It looks cool, and I suspect for many the central objective will be secondary to their building an empire or creating a league of interstellar assassins. Curious to see how much freedom the game mechanics afford people to create / build / experiment etc. Could I spend my time as a mad scientist extracting exotic DNA to run evolution experiments and sell my wonderfully crafted biological weapons to the highest bidder?

Doubt it.

Doubt it.
In which case I hope it allows for modules to be imported into the game that open up such creative possibilities. I wanna see how much complexity can arise from their game - I'd like to do more than fly ships and establish trade routes :).

Sounds all very technically and conceptually amazing - a whole sandbox universe. But I can't see the appeal of this once the novelty has worn off. A game where you could go for years, or a lifetime, or even until our real sun burns out without encountering other players, with no real objective?? I would imagine that after visiting the umpteenth empty planet it will get somewhat boring, but maybe I'm not seeing it.
