Hi,

I am looking to cancel my 4mb uncapped account as it really isn't worth it for me any more.

So I was thinking of getting a highly capped account which would cost less.

I rate a 60gb or in that area will be better... any capped offering in that range, not to expensive?

and and of course, not to mention where to find it :P

I'm curious what the answer will be...because I have been contemplating the same.

50gb capped cost around same as uncapped account.

best is R200 30gb+100gb webafrica deal, but you cant buy it, was a limited special.

"competition" is more apt....special would indicate that you actually stood a chance if you wanted an account :/

I've also been thinking about this. I'd rather pay for more speed than cap. Also around 50GB.

What about cybersmart's night surfer multiplier or whatever it's called.

I think the only thing you're gonna find is the differential between uncapped shaped and capped unshaped, the latter is looking more expensive.

Ill be honest. That RedAfrica special/competiton is perfect for me.
I never use over the specified amount either.
I tried it out for two months then cancelled my uncapped acc.

Afrihost has 60GB Capped ADSL that supports up to 10Mbps for R570.

Once the Cap runs out, im sure you will want more. Consider getting uncapped unshapped package.

@ngadao08:
unshaped uncapped is way too expensive, unless you stick with 384kbps which is unbearably slow.

@phoenix911:
Why not consider something like 1Mbps Mweb uncapped (shaped)? It should cost you much less than 4Mbps.

I am more fussed about my speed than about the actual amount of cap...

so I'd rather have a 10mb line with 50gb cap than a 4mb uncapped line...

afaik, 10mb & 4mb line rental are the same? (or maybe not, not sure)

and cap price stays the same doesnt matter the line speed.

The only capped account that would allow you to download ~60GB without costing more than 1Mbps uncapped, would be the 30GB IS local only accounts (from either OpenWeb/Axxess).
If your ADSL line is very stable, then you can get like 32GB of international off those accounts :D

10Mbps & 4Mbps line rentals are the same, but uncapped 10Mbps & 4Mbps accounts does not cost the same at all!
Capped accounts should give you the full line speed.

Lastly, are you sure that you can get 10Mbps in your area?

Have you considered a mixture of capped and uncapped accounts?

I have a 6Mb line and run a capped account during the day for work purposes and a 1Mb uncapped account after hours which I find cost effective.

Depending on what you are looking for speed for during the day...I've been running 4mbps uncapped from WebAfrica and have been on the whole pretty happy. Given that there were issues at the beginning of December when there were a lot of signups that extra capacity was provisioned inside of 2 weeks and things have returned to normal since then and more capacity has been provisioned for January as well. Really not bad value...the speed that I've been throttled to during the day after crossing my usage threshold was still completely acceptable as performance was still great but only throughput on the whole was effected yet still good (200kbps+).
