Hi,
I recently signed up for the Uncapped Lite Internet service from MTN. As part of the service contract you get a Huawei E367 3G modem. If I plug the E367 modem into the USB port on my Netgear DGN2200M router, I receive a "detecting modem", and occasionally a "scanning" message when I monitor the connection through the router's web configuration interface. However the system never connects to the Internet.
If I connect the E367 modem directly to my PC, I connect to the Internet, no problem. I get 3G connectivity that varies between HSDPA and HSUPA+. So I can certainly confirm that the modem works, and I can connect to the MTN network. I have an old 8.ta prepaid simcard, and if I put the simcard into the MTN E367 modem, and plug the modem into the USB port on the router, then I can connect to the Internet too. So I think that probably proves that the system hardware (modem and router) both work, and when connecting through 8.ta as the service provider, can connect to the Internet.
It seems that it is just when I try to connect to the Internet using MTN (through the router), that things fall apart. I suspected that the router had the wrong APN settings for MTN. There aren't many configurable options, and I've tried all the obvious configurations based on reading various forums:
Username: MTN, Password: mtn, APN: myMTN, Access Number: *99#
Username: [blank], Password: [blank], APN: myMTN, Access Number: *99#
Username: [blank], Password: [blank], APN: internet, Access Number: *99#
Username: [blank], Password: [blank], APN: Internet, Access Number: *99#
Username: [blank], Password: [blank], APN: internet, Access Number: *99***1#
There are probably other configurations I've tried, but these are the ones I can remember off the top of my head. None of them came anywhere close to connecting.
Has anybody had similar problems, and if so, did they manage to resolve them? Any advice would be most appreciated. Many thanks.
