No network on my sim

Strangely enough the sim card seem to work in the same area but say 10km away. Now back to the workplace where it used to work fine it says "no service". Can it be a tower issue since the map on the website says there is towers 0.5km and 0.9km from my position. Others are like 2.4km and more away.
Exact same issue I drove to another area working but at home it's dead it's like the tower is bootlooping or something.

I had this occasionally before lockdown when their chat service still 'worked'.

I eventually got out of them that the two areas I had no service in were down due to 'tower upgrades'. Downtime was the few hours I happened to need it :( Not more than a day though....

Subsequent speed tests didn't show evidence of any 'upgrade' so who knows what they were doing.

Right now, their support is so overwhelmed that by the time they respond to your first problem, you're probably past that and onto a new one! :p

this is pretty weird cause according to cavedog

65573 = 4G for NSA 5G on Rain.

65574 well we don't know what they are doing with that but looks like that plmn id is being broadcasted on all the towers they have coverage on.

I wonder when rain lies how far up does the lie come from .

When it died last I was actually busy on IDA pro needed armhexconvertor.com I just gave up and watched a show luckily for me I watch offline streaming on rain is a pipedream now coming from being able to stream YouTube 4K

Nothing related to rain shows up when doing a manual network search, even on a cellphone. Something is totally messed up.

Same thing happened for me.

Rain wasn't slow, it didn't exist. No signal at all.

Their story was the towers were offline for the mysterious 'upgrade'.

I'd imagine things like this happen, but surely they could have minimal (zero!) downtime if planned and executed correctly.

How often do the likes of MTN, VC, Telkom etc have equivalent downtime?

Perhaps Rain has fewer towers to the impact is more pronounced?

Anyway, I've given up on Rain for the time being. Might try them again when 5G is more established and the heavier users have migrated off 4G.

In my case the APN settings are correct. It goes into "no service" mode overnight.
A reboot connects me to a tower but the towers are so far away the connection does nothing but timeout.
Later in the day the tower that goes offline overnight, comes back online and I get around 2Mbps.
Not fabulous, but usable.
Why does the connection die for sometimes several hours at a time?
I used R479 instead of R250. Besides, I also tried to reset my router and APN, and not only me but also my friends. Several people on my side had the same problem. The funniest thing is that when I left my community, the signal immediately recovered. It was only a few hundred meters from the gate of my community to my home

I have the same problem as you. The internet at home is dead, but when I go to my work place, the internet is OK again. My home and my work place are less than two kilometers away.

i wonder what is happening it appears as if the tower is transmitting a weaker signal i remember when that debug rain site was working i was always connected to the KORSTEN_VOD at home when i drove through korsten today i had signal.

The neighbourhood next to mine also had zero signal also.

@rain_mobile @rain_networks explain

edit
i'm in Port Elizabeth btw

Could they be restricting certain neighbourhoods due to overuse/abuse? If so, what is considered too much in their AUP/FUP?

if this is doable it's possible that is whats happening LTE-Shedding:cautious:
Yeah you may have a naughty neighbour, or it could be you. You'd never know because everything is "unlimited".

Yes you literally have to do the Rain Dance everyday by shuffling your device around to get this thing to work .:sneaky:

Day 3 of no service at the office. At home all is well. And the id shown at home is 65538. I did a manual network search now and the network id available, 65538, 65574, 65519. The sim card fails to connect to any of those.

Anybody that might have some insight please assist since im waiting on Rain which might be forever.
