SOME HELP PLEASE!!

I recently moved back to SA from London. I have a vodafone Huawei E220, I bought a new Vodacom Pay as you go simcard, I rang Vodacom's technical department and they enabled the card to function in the modem.
I downloaded the new Mobile Partner Software (11.002.03.04.03), installed it and ran into a problem. The software picks up the modem, no problem, but a message flashes up saying NO SIM DETECTED.

I also tried using the VMC software with much the same message PLEASE INSERT SIM. Any suggestions?? Is this modem locked for Vodafone UK only?? If so is there a way to "flash" it and bypass it?

Maybe I am missing something stupid here, won't be the first time that has happed. ANy help will be much appreciated!

PS - I am very new to this whole 3G world, is there specific settings in the Mobile Partner software I have to setup? I haven't a clue as you can tell, will the Vodacom technical guys be able to help...I find these chaps normally read off scripts and deviating from there scripts completely con****ulates them.

Your E220 probably is network locked to Vodafone UK, but the message you're currently getting seems to indicate something else: either the SIM Card or the E220's SIM Card contacts are damaged, OR the E220's sliding SIM Card holder is jammed into the E220 upside-down.

In the likely event that your E220 is network locked to Vodafone UK, note that Vodacom cannot unlock it for you.
