No throughput on EDGE (not roaming)

I've been having a problem lately where my phone is connected on EDGE (Cell-C's EDGE, not roaming), but there is no throughput.
DNS works though. Anyone else experienced this?

Seen it from PC in the past. Not attributed to 2G or 3G, but specific towers with strong signal. It happens when some towers do not accept registration, but some (more distant) do. SIM gets registered (sometimes with troubles), when you dial, you are being forced to handover, but there is no throughput from these towers. I watched Cell ID's it comes to this conclusion. Solution was to position directional antenna to the working towers. Your case can differ and with a phone very little can be done.

Working OK for me on my HTC on Cell C EDGE at the moment:

CID: 24054
RXL: -63dBm

Speedtest:
Ping: 423ms
Down: 0.15Mbps
Up: 0.07Mbps

CID: 34168 (opposite end of my house)
RXL: -75dBm

Speedtest:
Ping: 503ms
Down: 0.14Mbps
Up: 0.06Mbps

Checked a couple of websites and they load OK as well.
Time of day perhaps?

I think it depends on the tower. It happens to me at work, we used to get 3G there but now it's gone.
At home I get 3G all the time.

Yesterday afternoon I was connected on EDGE, but no throughput and no DNS either.
Today around lunchtime I couldn't even register on the 2G network.
