:D Good news for the day:

Vuvuzelas will not be allowed into the grounds for next year’s Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.

The instruments have been a topic of much debate among players, supporters and officials during the Soccer World Cup, while they also came to prominence during the Bulls’ Super 14 play-off matches at Orlando Stadium. However, they were banned for the Boks’ Test against France at Newlands, and the Kiwi event organisers have taken a similar stance.

No ‘airhorns or sound amplifiers including loudhailers’ and ‘musical instruments’ and ‘whistles’ will be allowed at next year’s venues, according to the World Cup official site.

The Bledisloe Cup Test in Christchurch on 7 August is likely to see a ban on vuvuzelas. VBase chief executive Bryan Pearson told The Press a decision would be made soon.

‘We haven’t made any decisions,’ said Pearson. ‘We would be concerned about the potential for them to spoil the experience for fans at the stadiums. Given the experience at the soccer World Cup, I can’t see that that sort of deafening drone is going to be in any way well received by fans at AMI Stadium.’

much agreed, vuvuzelas should remain a soccer instrument. nothing beats rugby chants! Can't wait for the RWC.
 
They should allow it. It would give the Chokers (All Blacks) a valid excuse.
 
no surprises there. Why should other countries and sports be forced to follow what was really a once off uniquely South African event experience? The Vuvuzela had it's place in the SWC 2010.... and it was fun... but I don't think it will find much place elsewhere in the future.
 
Thank goodness, vuvuzela's in 5.1 surround sound give me a headache and also drowns out any other "culture" that wants to express itself during the game's.
 
Somebody should make something like a telescopic vuvuzela so you can sneak them in :p
 
I would define the V thing as being a single note instrument, played by single cell people!
 
Hmmm...I can think of one or two people who are not going to be happy about this descision. Literally -- one or two.

+1. The South Americans didn't invade us with drums and maracas. We'll see and hear that in 4 years.

'cause there's always 1 or 2 chops that will bring them in and spoil everyone else's day.

So that's why there's an explicit ban.

Just admit it... a lot more of the South African rugby fans have fallen in love with the vuvuzela. There is no shame in admitting that (vuvuzela blowing is known to be very addictive :D).
