Hey ppl, i need sum help. My pc only has 1 user (ADMIN) and yesterday someone put a password to it, i dont know who and now i cant get into my own pc. Is there anyway to get pass this or do i have to format my hdd?

If you can still log on using other accounts with admin privelages, you can use a program: Advanced Windows Password Recovery. You can google it and download it... It will give you most of the passwords and stuff you need...!

I had a friend who had a problem just like this, but he knew for a fact that nobody else had access to his PC. He only had administartor as a user with no password. Then suddenly it asked for a password to log in. It would'nt even let him login via safe mode.

He eventually had to reformat his PC. Then about 3 months later, boom, same problem. We then did a repair in Windows XP (off the XP CD) and he could login to the machine again.

Could this be a virus of some sorts?

Did you try using a blank password ? ie, just press <enter>. If you've changed the way Windows logon works it will ask for a password even if you haven't set one.

A long shot - but I'm unaware of any virii that changes passwords.

Did he installed any software before the admin password change? It can also be that his PC got hacked, and the hacker "resetted" the admin password (not knowing that it's blank)...

Or - it can be that the admin password got corrupted somehow...

A virus can be one of two things: a virus, or a stupid/moedswillige humanbeing... format and install Linux. Problem solved... :D

You guys are all very helpful :)

... but I hope that the OP is not using all this information to hack someone else's PC?

Easy solution

Boot up in safe mode, go to user accounts and remove the password. :)

I'm surprised no-one else mentioned this

Something else...

You can try the Active@boot disk... It's a bit expensive, but it has a lot of great tools...

It changes the "Login Details" in the windows form outside of windows...

By default safe mode boots up with the administrator account - and if this account have a password, then you're still stuck...

Exactly, which is one of the reasons you should always have a password on your Administrator account.

you can get it right here: http://www.ntfs.com/boot-disk.htm

It is well worth the investment. I have used it countless times as it recovers deleted files, fixes boot records, and a ot of other stuff!

Go with the windows version to save yourself frustrations...

A screengrab...

Here is a screengrab of the Active@ Password changer
