Noise Cancelling Headphones

Many thanks for suggesting ear defenders which should work fine for blocking out excessive noise during the day.

Let me know how well it works and how it fits.

I have found this forum to be extremely helpful especially in as far as providing alternative solutions.
Will certainly let you know. The noise in our complex is due to building renovations which take place on weekdays
during stipulated hours and do not necessitate top of the range noise cancelling headphones.

Lol, I have been working from home since I left school more than a decade a go. Have no idea what it feels like to have a 'normal' job....

Very blessed to stay in a relatively quiet environment, specially during the day.

You could also look at the industrial earmuffs like Dromex, Honeywell Leightning etc. I have not tried them myself but they seem to be a lot more affordable and widely available. Builders Warehouse might also have something suitable. Just Google for protective gear and choose a supplier close by.

Many thanks for your suggestions, Jake45. I think it's always preferable to have someone recommend a product rather than be the guinea pig? Over a period of time, comfort and functionality would, in my view, take precedence over cost but all in the context of what one considers reasonable. I have now ordered the 3M ear "defenders" (due to be delivered today) and will report back.

I have 2 sets of ANC headphones
one wired - old-ish
one bluetooth - new-ish

both work equally well.

a buddy has a set of Bose confort-something ANC headphones.
after some tests at the office one day he had to admit that my $70 bluetooth set works as well as his $300+ set.

his set beats mine on the "cool factor" though.

I purchased the 3M Peltor X5A earmuffs and they work well, suppressing 90% of the drilling noise in the building.
As they fit very snugly, I would rate comfort level at 8 out of 10 - they are meant to be used more for industrial rather than home purposes. Cost was R781 plus R90 for courier (next day).

That is not bad. But yes the downside is they bulky and not pretty. You get the smaller ones but obviously the smaller the cup the less noise isolation

These otium headphones are pretty nice. They're not over ear, but i prefer in-ear myself tbh.
