The words "good" and "free" don't go together too well in this context. There are some tools that aren't too expensive though. Noise Ninja, if I remember correctly, was $50 or so.
have you checked out audacity? it's free and has a noise reduction plugin.
oops, you were looking for photo noise reduction ...i....should..learn..to...read...
$30 for the standalone home edition application.

So far nothing has bested Noise ninja for me but there was one that came close enough that if I had to start over would give me pause for thought and that was Dfine.
Free? No. In this field you tend to get what you pay for I'm afraid. You know a little noise can actually add to a photo. How bad is it?But is Dfine free?
I am a student thus I don't have R600 for a noise reduction program![]()

BTW - I thought you Nikon shooters didnt have to worry about noise . . . .![]()
Just out of interest, why did you get noise in the first place? ISO to high?
I dont know of any free apps but I do have a couple ideas. Not too bad, but I dont like noise on wedding photos, also us nikon shooters don't but us amatuers do
And which free programs do you know about?
Ps: For whom were you buy the nikon the other day?

Have you tried printing any out? Unless you're doing large prints much of the noise might just go unnoticed. Plus converting to b/w is a trick I use a lot![]()
If it is just for the www then downsizing it often helps - 800x800 is still a decent size to email or view online.
I thought lightroom came with built in noise reduction anyway.
The P6000? That's for me (though I don't have great expectations with it when it comes to low light/high ISO situations).![]()
