Assume one can buy this at any flea market?

Got a 3310 in my drawer, but nothing happens when charging it. Battery is swollen, will rather exchange it with a new battery...

Spare yourself the trouble.
Original battery will cost more than new Nokia 1280 from like PEP stores or Game.
As far as I remember its less than R200.
El cheapo battery from flea market will not last long and in long run will also cost more than R200 if you have to replace battery again.
Plus Nokia 1280 has a flash light. :D

Edit:
Here is special from PEP for R159.

I bought a Samsung from PnP for 180rand(with a colour screen, albeit about 4 colours haha).Battery lasts over a week. Serves me well when my 3000rand phone dies after 9 hours of use

R119 from Game

Game leaflet page

Meh.

Then I'd rather buy a new cheapy than looking for a battery. R200 for a new (iffy) battery vs a new cheapy...

I have them in stock - Generic but usually last two years or more...

Most independent cell shops should have them price between R80 and R110.

At least you'll still have a Nokia and not a Foxconn badged as a Nokia...

I still use 3310's as loan phones... Oddly enough I always get them back! :)

My Gran still has and loves that phone.

She brags that she can send emails(actually sms),but as for the battery, here in Cape Town alot of Indian cell repair shops like Cell and leather world sell those batteries.

Those cell repairs shops near train stations should have em in stock as i had to buy dearest ME-MA a new one not too long ago for R40.

You can even get a lithium replacement which wasn't available in those early 3310 days,as long as you follow the precise specs: Standard, NiMH 900 mAh (BMC-3)

You can forget about an original though.

When you do get a new battery i would like you to throw it in the fire when you have a braai with friends(free entertainment).:D
