Nokia 5800 an iPhone killer?

Give Symbian a few more month and 9.4 will be an iPhone killer

*yawn* what is this the 112th time you predicted an iPhone killer? :D

Just learn to live with the fact that there never will be an iPhone killer, it is here to stay. :p

There are many ways to kill [-]a cat[/-] an iPhone. Hardware wise Nokia has done this many times, feature wise they have also done it so many times that you cannot laugh at iPhone OS 3 (codename Catch-the-Fin). What I was talking about was purely UI wise. Sure Symbian 9.4 is great, but there are a few things here and there that they will fix with time. Already a lot of issues have been fixed in the last firmware release of the 5800.

But the question remains - DO WE NEED AN IPHONE KILLER ?
NO !!! of course we don't. The world needs iPhones, iPods and other fruit products so that it can be applied as a label to certian types of people. Nothing stereotypes quite so nicely (or accurately) as an Apple does.

LOL

And you are declared apple stereotype :D

But I use Linux as my main OS on a Quadcore with Nvidia Geforce 9600GT card modded with my own fan...

So Apple users are competent PC users that know what they're talking about?.. I agree.

why whould nokia give a fck about the iphone really? Nokia isnt really loosing significant market share to the iphone. And anyone who cares more about function over "brand" whould be inteligent enough to realize that with the iphone you pay more for less

They sold 14 million phones in less than a year and through exclusive SPs...
If you calculate that 14 million with Nokias market share, they lost out big time!!! Their N96 is a complete flop which makes things worst for Nokia, luckily they still riding on N95 sales and ofcourse other N-series phones but not near as good as the N95 uptake.

Yeah the N96 is donkey balls. But the N97 will be pwn4g3 !
Also in terms of camera quality the N86 is said to dethrone the N82 even without having to juice up on Xenon :p

I was hesitant, at first, to buy my Nokia 5800 but I don't regret it at all. All the concerns proved to be very mild... especially that about the touch screen... it's very responsive! I LOVE THIS PHONE!!!

if its good enough for batman.....

Dammit - did you have to bring in batman ! :p

He and Robin had a huge shemale fight the other day cause Robin lost the last Ericsson R380 that batman had. He was seriously miffed about this and the two did not speak for like a week or something. Also Batman was pissed cause he did not SyncML his R380 with his Google account so he lost the number of that cute evildoer that he wanted to [-]bang[/-] to justice. Also the number of the spray shop where he takes the bat mobile each time after Robin when to the shopping mall in it. I mean geez, you'd think a super heroes helper would be capable of reversing a car that uses a freakin in dash monitor as a rearview... but NO !!!

Anyways, to cut a long story short, Robin needed to get batman a new phone. Yup, you guessed it, since he is rodent like his mind is limited to touch phones - so Robin knew exactly what phone to get on his next [-]dentersize adventure[/-] trip to the mall.

Batman loves his 5800 XM now and has finally got over the R380. EPOC based touch screen lives again ! Muhahahahaha

evidence that friday is slowly but surely penetrating the forum:D

What is the GPS on it like ?

The GPS on it works well, it comes with nokia maps that are ok but I loaded Garmin XT and that works cool, just like a nuvi. Also loaded google latitude and that works quite well too

I run the same trio on my N82 :-) And AmazeGPS just for the fun of it and GPSed to record tracks.

Whether or not Nokia is going to kill the iPhone:sick: with yet another new model does't help much.
If all the people stop trying to compare every darn phone to the iPhone and move on, the iPhone will certainly drop off.

RE the new iPhone software: Why would I buy a electronic notepad for R12k+ and still have to wait for a year before I would be able to copy and paste? Its like buying a new car and the company tells you that if you have driven this car for a year or so, they might or might not install an antenna for you radio. WTF???
