Greetings one and all,

OK I've had this great phone now for 2 weeks, no problems, squeaks or anything.:)

Is there a thread/posting on setting up, installing maps ect posted somewhere:sick:

How does one activate the voice routing:confused: Do we need to subscribe to anyone, ( I activated my maps, I can see my position ect,. but it won't tell me how to get from point A to point B )

Please point me in the right direction to find help.;)

Um,

There's a thread called "installing garmin on the 6110" or something like that. follow that guide. Pretty much the same with the 5800..
:)

type in the address that you want to go to, then 'Search'......once the address is found....it will show together with the distance....click on it the......then click on 'Drive to'.........then just wait for it to search for it on the satellite etc. it usually takes about a minute then it should direct you (voice guided)

You really dont have to install Garmin

The 5800 uses a slightly different version of Symbian S60, but try this:
Go into map mode. You should see your position on the map after a while. Then scroll to a different street, press the main button (accept?) then select drive to (not walk). After a few seconds it should give the first instruction (turn left/right etc)
If it doesn't, the ...
Go into Maps, then press the options button
Extras > MyLicenses
It should tell you status of your license. How many days left etc..
Also try going to
Options > Extras > Drive & Walk > Accept

I did a update yesterday with Nokia Map Loader and it seems a lot better. 115mb download though. :D

That's 115MB less than you'd have to download OTA (at astronomical prices). ;)

What's the trial length of Nokia Maps, if any, that comes with the 5800?

180 days, but since I did the hard reset, my maps ain't working like it is supposed to. Did the Nokia maps thing again, but when I say "my position", it goes to Egypt. and when I search for a place and say "drive to" it just does that "looking for satellite" thingy...

I've heard that Nokia are trying to iron out some bugs on this version of Symbian. Perhaps try a search of Nokia discussions to see if anyone is also having this problems. Nokia Maps 2.0 works pretty well on other devices. Maps 3 is also in beta on the Ovi site.

Also, I havent used Amaze yet, but have a look at that too.
Slightly off topic, but an alternative nevertheless :)

I loaded the Garmin Mobile XT today and must say that I am very impressed. Will not be going back to Nokia Maps. Now if I could only make the Garmin the default prog for when I open the maps icon. :p

Ok...so today I decided to start fiddling with my GPS. The thing is that it doesn't give me my current positioning..? I go to my position but it does nothing. I have tried to look for solutions online but haven't found much. Any suggestions? My SO has the exact same phone and hers works fine:confused:
