NOKIA 5800 Tips Tricks & Apps Thread.....

Has anyone tried the TV-out function yet? My box has the "TV out not supported on this version" sticker on, but I still bought a cable and tried. Alas, no luck. Bit of an expensive gamble that didn't pay off this time. I've read reports of people for whom it did work, though.

To be honest i haven't seen any Tube with the TV out not supported sticker work

Oh well, it was worth a try. Why, oh why, should mine have been in that unlucky batch!? :(

Ok, done crying. :D

Guys... Since the new update I havn't been able to choose which network I'd like to connect to in my Opera Mini...
Usually I can choose to either connect with WLAN, VLive! or WAP VLive! but all I do now is connect to WLAN automatically and it never asks me which one I'd prefer..
This is annoying as if I'm outside of the house, it can't auto connect to my WLAN so I'll have to browse using the phone browser which uses a lot of data =/

How do I change it back so it can ask me?

Menu --> Settings --> Connectivity --> Admin. Settings --> Packet Data --> Access Point -Make it none.

Hope that works...

I can't see that it's been written here, but there's now a native Skype client for your s60 v5 phones. From your mobile browser go to skype.com/m and download direct. I guess you can also download to your PC from the web site but I couldn't find it. It works absolutely great on my wifi network but one caveat: No video calls yet, just voice.

Yeah, I've got it. Along with Fring and Nimbuzz. I can use Fring for video calls (on the Skype network, no less), Nimbuzz for Facebook and Twitter updates, and Skype just because. To be honest, I use Nimbuzz more, because it looks so good and I'm not making many video calls.

I've updated to Ovi Maps 3.03 with the free navigation. The problem i'm having is the Ovi Map application doesn't rotate to landscape mode automatically. Also the map application doesn't load the whole map on the screen, and when i zoom into the map it doesn't show the roads and other map features - all i see is a blank screen. :erm:
Any ideas?

What version is available via NSU...?
Im still on v31.something..........no luck yet.

Works for me - not that I use Landscape much in Maps. What version firmware are you using (v40 here)?

Ok so I was updating my GFs 5800 and ovi suite decided to crash while updating. Now it only vibrates constantly when I try to restart it.....Ive tried a hard reset (camera+red+green buttons) but no luck. Any suggestions or will I just have to take it back to MTN to "fix" it.....?
I see there are a few people with similar problems online. Sometimes it seems to happen even after just normally restarting the phone....

My dad recently got the 5800 on a Vodacom deal (1 week ago). I was planning to update his firmware for him to v.40 when I noticed it was already on v.40. He definitely did not change his product code as he no clue what a product code is. It seems as though Vodacom have finally caught up with the updates!
