NOKIA 5800 Tips Tricks & Apps Thread.....

I did a hard reset before and them installed the new firmware and everything is english

That's good. They fixed quite a few issues in this release. I think the 6.3 update will be out next week, so check back on the site again.

Mind the double post please. Did you update it Raithlin? I'm finding my touch screen a bit hard to use after the update.

Yes, I did. I am enjoying it immensely, although I had to sort out a few things first. I'm also not too happy with the battery life, although it may be a tired battery that is used as an (charging) alarm clock every night that does it too...

Overall, it's an awesome ROM. I find the lock switch a tad sensitive, but now that I've figured out how to use it that's a non-issue. I'm enjoying the home screen, and the RAM on C is substantial, even after updates and installs (everything that can go to the SD card does).

What are you struggling with exactly, teraside? Have you tried recalibrating the screen?

Since Vodacom wants R1700 to upgrade me to an iPhone, I will also try this in the meantime. What application do you use to upload this to the phone?

I had the battery drain issue on the previous ROM, but on this ROM my battery lasts much much longer.

My touch screen is very unresponsive and becomes work for me to type anything on the phone. Most of my messages are Afrikaans, so swype or T9 won't help me here.

I have calibrated the screen, but I'm hoping the V7 update will fix this for me.

Check for the instructions on the link given, translate the page from spanish to English and follow the step by step.

I've found in the past that a hard reset (especially after a CFW install) does wonders to fix many issues - so much so that I make it a routine step now after flashing.

I tried doing it with the JAF toolset. Everything worked fine, but I didn't go through with it for fear of having a 5800-shaped brick/paperweight. At the part where 4 green lights should shine, only two shined...

I also re-installed my firmware to see if that would fix the issue, and suddenly my wifi isn't working anymore. :(

So you copped out? Shame on you...

Edit: Thanks Raithlin, I'll do a hard reset some time.

Hi Guys

Anyone have any idea how I can use my 8GB Micro SD from my Nokia 5800 on my new phone LG Optimus Black?

On the Memory Card is has Nokia and HC logos.

Inserted into phone: Not detected
Tried Formatting using 5800, then Inserted into phone: Still not detected
Tried Formatting using card reader on Windows XP, not detected on PC, Could be that the SD Card adapters I tried are faulty; though the Card Reader definitely works for SD cards
Tried Formatting using PC while connected to 5800 in Mass Storage Mode (Quick and Full Format), then Inserted into phone: Still not detected

Out of ideas. Any ideas. The new phone came with a paltry 2GB card. I really don't want to shell out for a new card unless I have to.

Thanks

Strange. Wish I could help. I transferred my 5800 card to my galaxy tab and it worked without formatting.

Sent from my GT-P1000 using MyBroadband Android App

Thanks anyway. I'll try popping it into my galaxy tab and see what happens.
