NOKIA 5800 Tips Tricks & Apps Thread.....

1) No. Batteries are more modern these days - despite what the salesman tells you. You will need to charge it fully the first few times so the OS gets an idea of how long it lasts, IIRC.

2) I use the BodyGlove protector. Came with a free screen protector, although you need to cut it to size - something I promptly f****ed up. :erm:
3) Don't forget to update your firmware.

For the rest of you, I did a hard reset today, and got my email plugin. No extra themes though. I would recommend checking out the Azenis theme by Dsma - best I've seen yet, besides the more standard (but excellent) Prestige Solace theme by Tehk-Seven.

Thanks Raithlin.

Okay, got my phone from Nokia Vodaworld, but its Vodalive branded

I can only upgrade to v21 (which i did)

So my question is, if i change the product code (if i'm on the right path) then i can change it to something else (maybe MTN) which would allow me to update to v30.

Question is, does it void your warranty?

Thanks Raithlin.

All I'm going to say is I just got my phone back from vodacare who fixed it for free under warranty no questions asked. That after I accidentally cut of the touch screen connector when I opened the phone myself and previously changed the phone's product code. I didn't tell them about either now that would just have been silly.

I thought you could just a software tool (NSS) to change the product code, do you need to actually open the phone

Just upgraded to the 30 or something firmware.

All seems fine, except the middle button flashes now and then (white flash)

It used to do this if I had missed a call/sms/other event.

Not it just does it all the time. My phone sits where I can see it on my PC all day at work, and its chafing my nuts.

Anyone else seen this? Is this an unexpected "feature", or am I missing something??

its in the settings look for a thing called breathing light...

Did you upgrade from v11?

Thanks Peder.

Googled that, then found this:

It happened to me while updating to v21. It isn't anything to be scared of but it's certainly annoying as the update process stops. But if you have another computer, try doing the update using that computer. It's what I did since mine kept restarting and then NSU would say phone disconnected blah blah...

Or even better, if you still can do firmware of the air, that's surely going to work.

The menu key flashing is the "breathing light" which you can manage by going to Phone then Notification Light. However if you've just seen this "breathing light" that means you've successfully upgraded to v21 (it's a new feature).

Seems like some BS that is supposed to remind me my phone is on...

Who ever turns theirs off nowdays??

On Version 30.0.011, released 29.06.2009

You can stop the breathing ...

Don't let the breathing light get you down, you can turn it off ...

Menu > Settings > Phone > Notification lights > Standby br. light > Off or On your choice :)
