No it is not a nokia cable, it is a cheap cable I bought a montana traders.

Lol,exactly why it doesnt work bro. You need to get a proper NOKIA TV-Out Cable. The NOKIA Store at Vodaworld in Midrand should have some im sure. :)

You're assuming the hardware is in the phone. I plugged my Nokia cable into a buddy's phone, and nothing. Works fine with my phone though. Some 5800s don't have the TV-out due to a shortage in the hardware department.

Hi, can anybody tell me if they have the same problems with V40.0.005 software please. I am getting extremely fustrated!!!

When the phone is rininging, I can only answer it by using the unlock button on the side, but when it is in my pocket, it will answer and disconnect the caller all in one before I have it out. Any key answer is OFF.
While talking to a person, the phone suddenly decides I am finnished and disconnects the user :(
The only way I can have a conversation is to use the speaker phone or the hands free.

I loved this little phone but now it is very close to bouncing off the walls....

First port of call: Have you tried a hard reset? That fixes most intermittent problems.

Hard reset = shut the phone down. Start up the phone while pressing the red, green and camera keys simultaneously. Hold them down until you see the hands coming together.

how do i get a hold of a developer certificate? i've been experiencing a lot of problems due expired certificates and certificate errors. I've already tried the hard reset route and changing the phone date to no avail.

on a side note my phone has stopped freezing all of a sudden and works normally now

Hi guys,
I have a nokia 5800 which i bought from India and currently i am in USA.
it is an unlocked phone. and the product code is 0575590 and the version number is 30.0.022
When i check for an update OTA it says that there is no update available, i connect to NSU and check and still it says no update available.
My question is that does nokia come out with an update for all the product codes?
I cannot update to the previous update (V31) as well.

I am considering to change the product code and then get an update. What would u suggest?

If later at some point i have problem with my phone, have to send it to nokia. If i revert back to the product code, and get the current firm ware in it and then send it to nokia people, will they be able to figure out that i messed around with the phone and void my warranty?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sounds like a plan - assuming you can start up your phone to put the original product code back on.

Changing anything on your phone always carries a risk with it - and it's a risk that you take on yourself. Personally, I've never had a hassle getting a hacked phone fixed (within reason - hardware issues don't involve software changes), but you should only make changes you are comfortable with, in my opinion.

any of u guys that have updated to v40. open a gps app. u should be in for a suprise

I'm not sure if Nokia Maps supports it, but Garmin supports assisted GPS. Basically it will download a small file containing the positions of the satellites. Can speed up GPS considerably.

Yes, Nokia Maps supports it. Basically, the mapping app calls an API in the OS - which goes through the motions of checking which GPS devices are available (A-GPS, internal, external, etc.). Theoretically, all GPS apps should benefit from it.

And thus the Map application, whatever you use, asking for internet access doesn't want it only for cute traffic updates....

Is it possable to route Inet traffic through a proxy server with the 5800?
Our work use a proxyserver for Inet but I do not know where to add this for the WLAN connection?
Thanks

So I am trying to update and it seems I am fighting a losing battle - check this crap!

And it's still going!!! Can someone please suggest me a product code that was recently used to get V40
