New (official) firmware for 5800 & 5530

The latest firmware for both the 5800 and 5530 are now rolling out and are available for over the air (OTA) update. The updates take the 5800 to version 60, and the 5530 to version 40. The update is mostly for performance improvements and bug fixing. However, Web has received a big update, taking it from version 7.2.6.9 to 7.3.1.33. This is only a few iterations behind the Symbian Anna browser, which is reflected in the updated user interface. Read on for screenshots and more details.

Downloading it and will try it ASAP.

Update : Been running it since last night, definitely worth the upgrade! PhoNetInfo reports the CPU running at 600mhz and menu animations are very smooth. I love CFW V7 !

I haven't played that much, but my phone doesn't feel or seem faster, except for a restart and startup it's much faster. One thing I have noticed is that my battery life has improved a lot. I have Whatsapp running 24/7 and this time usually I have to recharge, my battery is full though.

What have you noticed has improved?

The display is a lot more fluid thanks to the faster CPU speed. The battery life is better, Browser is better too.

I tend to stick with Opera Mini to save data wise, the Nokia Browser loves to download an entire page like it's a desktop.

My display has a Jerky effect to it since a few months ago, like it's "stuck" and becomes active again. It seems a bit better with V7 though, but I still notice it at times.

I have been putting CFW on my 5800 for ages, but I cannot remember if one can just update to the latest original release straight away? Or must I revert the current CFW's origin version and then update it?

The firmware updates wipe your phone, so as long as you have the same (or older) basic firmware version (v51, v52, etc.) you should be fine to go straight to the next version.

OK cool thanks. I thought I could but just wanted to make 100% sure.

Could anyone on the CFW7 tell me where the paragraph space character is in messaging? I stared at my screen almost 15 minutes today and couldn't find it at all, even going through all the new weird characters I can't find it?

I also want to know where the kappie-opi-e option went on the new CFW. Guess I'll survive until January when I get my 701.

How much do these phones sell for second hand?
Got 1 with box etc just lying around

I have mine listed on gumtree for R650

No earphones and 2GB card instead of the 8GB

Good price. I love the 5800 I bought there, so much so that I have not bothered to pick up my N8 from the repair shop. It had a new screen fitted for R350, still the 5800 with CFW is keeping me happy for now.
