What firmware do you have? Version 4.04.07 is the latest. You should be able to get it done for free.

ok i got it to work when i took out the battery but why does it give that error ?

The Nokia runs a full OS (Operating System) called Symbian. It's a complex system allowing you to run third party applications and to develop your own. Think of your phone as a little PC, which it actually has become.

With these complex systems comes the much higher chance for bugs, and you're seeing one of them. Either the OS or one of the apps on the phone is causing this problem. As with your PC, the only solution is to load the latest versions (when they become available) and hope it fixes it.

As predominately Microsoft users, we've become accustomed to this process.

(Before Tazz and the other Unix gurus grin from ear to ear, Linux is not always 100% stable either! :))

If you need stability in a phone, go for the simplest phone you can find. A model that can only make calls and sens a SMS would be great. My personal favourite is my old Nokia 6310i.

There's a backlash against smartphone worldwide (especially in the US, go figure) with users wanting simple, easy to use phones.

me too. Pity they couldn't make a 6410i or something - like the 6310i but only with EDGE and 3G added.
