Hi all,

I noticed that there is no Nokia 6680 phone option on Vodacom4me. Any idea what other phone can be selected to get the proper configuration settings automatically?

And some other question: WhenI got the phone, I did the setup wizzard to configure the phone for Vodacom, so I now have two access points:
Internet.GPRS
MMS.GPRS

Let's say I want to use 3G instead of GPRS, how and where do I set this up?

Thanks

LandyMan,

Your phone come pre-setup so you don't need to do anything else. The two access points are for different uses.

Internet.GPRS connects you via the 'internet' APN and will allow data access on either GPRS or 3G. The phone will autmatically select the right bearer. The ".GPRS" is a bit misleading and comes from the days when connection options were CSD or GPRS.

MMS.GPRS is to send and receive Mutimedia Messages (pictures, video, etc.). It's never used for anything else.

If the phone prompts you for a default APN, always select internet.GPRS.

If you want to force the phone to use only GSM, you can do so (Settings->Network Settings->Network mode) but it's not advised. Rather leave it on dual mode.

So in summary, everything should be working, you just play!

Aah, the 'good' ol' days ... yeah right! I expected it to be something like that.

So if I want to use the phone as a 3G modem, I need some dialup strings/settings I would imagine, from my PC? I recall reading somewhere something like #99#?

Cheers, and thanks v3g!

If you install the Nokia PC Suite, there is a "Connect to the Internet" button you can use, or else you can set up a dial-up connection yourself with the right number and APN settings.
