Nokia 7 plus

is the 7 plus not project treble supported?

A GSI could work?
According to something I found on XDA, apparently all devices that launch with Oreo should support Project Treble. I wouldn't risk trying to flash a GSI, but that's just me.

I did it guys. I took the plunge and got myself a 7 Plus last night after work. I haven't checked if anyone else has mentioned this before, but in case no one has and people are in doubt, that hi-online.co.za website is legit and seems to be run by the Foschini Group. Instead of ordering through it, I checked which branch had stock so I could go get it straight away :D

I did the same. Checked on their website where they had stock and then went to the store to buy the phone. Excellent service.

Nokia 7 plus now receiving Android Pie

Last month HMD Global executives promised Nokia 7 plus would be the first smartphone in the company portfolio to receive Android Pie by the end of September. After a false start on Wednesday, today the update has finally begun its rollout.

Android Pie arrives “fresh out of the oven” with “a plate of new features”, including Do Not Disturb Mode and Digital Wellbeing Dashboard. The Nokia 7 plus will also have Adaptive Battery, Adaptive Brightness and the new navigation button/tic-tac settings. The package is over 1400 MB in size and should be hitting Nokia 7 plus phones all over the world anytime soon.

The Nokia 7 plus impressed us in our review and its great battery life is likely to improve further with the optimizations Android Pie brings along. HMD already issued the September security patch earlier this month, but if you turned off the automatic updates, you might be in for a monthly update as well.

Sideloaded the OTA. All good thus far. Might perform a factory reset later to start fresh.

@jammio quite a few changes. Most notably based on what users that have upgraded are saying:

- adaptive battery
- UI look changes
- new animations
- some reporting better battery life on nokia 7 plus xda forums
- gesture based navigation (off by default as reported on xda)

Pretty much all the features mentioned in this article https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/new-features-android-pie/

- Most notably however many users using the Nokia 7 Plus have reported/experienced UI lag and general UI stutters and choppiness on 8.1 Oreo. This is apparently mostly/fully resolved in Android 9.0 Pie for the Nokia 7 Plus.

Question guys: Currently my Nokia 7 Plus is still on 8.1 Oreo but specifically the May 2018 security patch. When you guys side loaded 9.0 Pie were you already on 8.1 Oreo August 2018 security patch? Because my security patch seems to be stuck on May 2018 which means I believe I have to apply the June, July and August 2018 Oreo security patches first before moving over to 9.0 Pie with September 2018 security patch.

What security patch are the 8.1 Oreo users currently on? Is it only me still on May 2018 (device says there are no updates)
Also to the guys that side loaded 9.0 did you use phone method or recovery method described in this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-7-plus/development/ota-nokia-7-plus-ota-links-t3818774?

And i'm guessing it didn't wipe anything just applied pie? all apps, photos still intact?

And were you on August 2018 security patch or did you go straight from 8.1 May SP to Pi 9.0 September Security Patch.

Still deciding if i'm gonna side load or wait till the update is rolled out Internationally. Currently looks like only India is getting it.

:) Essay over
