Nokia E71 - Date release... teaser

Ok, So I walked into the new Vodacom shop in the waterfront and they have a working E71 on the display table.. played with it and I really like this phone... The guy has no idea when it is going to be released, told me that it might become available when they get the new phone lists on the 7th of August... So I wait... ok.. today is the 7th and I go to the Vodacom shop in gardens centre and ask to look at the new list so I can get my upgrade...

No E71 .... says Vodacom will not be bringing it in.. Now..either the gardens store has no idea what is going on... or they know something I don't.. Is this phone going to be released in SA .. and if so .. WHEN?

I just find it strange that the Waterfront Vodacom shop has a working demo in store.. and the gardens one says it is not coming to Vodacom....
 
I call BS...I don't see how or why VC wouldn't bring in such a mainstream Nokia phone.
 
I have phoned a few vodacom shops - mostly they say they are getting it in but can't say when. Mtn have it available - Italk for R314 pm I'm seriously thinking of porting
 
These Vodashop punks love this line, they get it wrong every single time, im not sure why they do this...
The phone WILL be released!!!
So far the only "mainstream" Nokia phone not released was the E70!

Dont worry bout it, they do it to me also...
Atleast you got to see it!
 
JK8 ... And play with it... Man is it a nice phone... This is my Iphone 3g trump card...

I wonder how much more effort it would be from Vodacom's side to inform the people at the shops of what is happening and when things are going to happen. People do not like to be left in the dark... if there was a better network provider in terms of coverage i would jump ship first thing... the service from Vodacom is well....non existent.

I agree. They seem like they don't care. Its all meercats and giant pillars on their buildings withoutfocussing on the product.
 
ETA for the E71 is 22 August, it already passed testing.
 
I must admit that this is a very good phone succeeding the E61i.
Looks like Nokias E-series is keeping with their tradition of stable software.
The phone also not as square as the E61i. Very shiny but also slippery.
I think this will be a good seller in the business market. It should do quite well but the BB Bold looks like quite the competitor!
 
I agree with JK. The E71 has sparked a lot of attention the Forums as well, its going to do very well. I'm more interested in the E66 though.

Thanks - there it was. I also ordered one. Separately , I got an email from vc saying release 1st week sept.


shipment arrives 29 august

They lied... its out, awesome phone! But I still rate it as 2nd best on the market atm...
 
I've been using the HTC Diamond .. well, a friend has one and I've been playing around with it. It's more novelty than business phone. BUT, it has the features! The E71 is going to be a business tool - I'm dying to get one but Vodacom like taking their time with things. It is available on MTN ... the catalogue that came with the Sunday Times had it. The 6220 is also out - that phone would be perfect if it only had WiFi ...

The n71 has arrived for Vodacom. Mine has been shipped from them.

I'm assuming you meant E71? Where did you get it from? I;ve gone to a few stores and I've been told that it will only probably come next month at the earliest. Some sales assistants had no clue what I was talking about as well!
