Nokia E71Tips and Tricks

Apparently, according to the official forums, depending on my cellular network and 'locks' on the network, firmwares might not be available to me YET, thus why I can't see 400 version set.

Anyways!

I want to let you guys know that since updating my phone to version 300, I can see that it definately has improved (performance wise)

I recently updated my E71 to firmware 400.21.013. Everything works except I can't connect to the internet! Also not able to download any e-mail or browse through any browser. I get an error saying "Connection not available" through various connection methods like WLAN, 3g or Internet.GPRS.

Updated via NSU, however I had to change my product code and didn't change it back.

Old post I know, but you E71 users may want to know that GPS Navigation is now free forever - Instead of using Nokia Maps, download Nokia Ovi Maps - and presto :)

Nope, my E71 came with Nokia Maps and 1-year voice navigation. When I did a software update, again, Nokia Maps was loaded - without the navigation license (which had expired anyway).
I had to manually download the other version - (Nokia) Ovi Maps from the Store, and that's enabled free navigation

How did you install the OVI maps on your Nokia E71? I see the Nokia website says it's not available for E71

Ovi Maps can be installed, just goto the web site on your phone... but do it via a wireless internet connection and not using 3G because it's HUGE! :)

Either that or it could be in the Ovi Store? Not sure - this was quite a while ago.
