Hi guys,
swapped my N95 for an E90 (E90-01 if that means anything !) and im really impressed!

Maps works very well -using the 3 day trial...

i remember reading somewhere that E90 may ship with garmin maps??is there something like that?

which other map applications are available for the E90? tomtom etc? and where can i download it for free with the maps for SA and other countries?

if i purchase a year license for the Nokia maps application is it country specific navigation or will i get 1 year worldwide?

lastly which is the latest firmware? i have 07.24.0.3 12/06/2007

thanks

Good swap!

Haven't seen any other mapping software for my E90 yet, but from what I've seen on the 'net, the phones are very, very new (worldwide) so there isn't much about them.

The newest firmware is 7.24.0.3

The Nokia maps application license is worldwide. All it really adds is voice navigation, and doesn't have anything to do with the actual maps...

Hope this helps!

-Route 66 works.
-MapKing works, but the interface is chinese.
-Garmin XT works. My E90 came with a 30day-trial on a memory card.

I haven't tried Nokia Maps with Navigation, but it looks the nicest. I find Garmin XT crashed a lot, especially if it's routing you somewhere, and has to recalculate.

P.S. Nokia Maps Voice Navigation is only for the region you purchase it, e.g. South Africa.

I stumbled apon a new one. Navicore? Anyone heard of it? They have SA maps.

Nokia Maps has very poor routing compared to my Garmin Nuvi 300. However as a basic mapping resource without voice navigation it is not bad.

One nice feature of Nokia Maps is that it uses the fact that the E90 is a cellphone quite well. Firstly, when you search for points of interest, it contacts the nokia server over 3g and searches, so the mapping info is never static. It also works nicely as an address book - you can search for points of interest and have the option to call them through the phone interface

please post a link for the South African Maps / support , i do not find any information regarding South African Maps

Route 66 works fine , I use that with builtin voice navigation.
Nokia GPS app is from Smart2Go , without voice nav it works fine if you not the one doing the driving.
TomTom is still being finetuned for E90 last time I checked.

Route 66 is horrible though in comparison... Also, most of the maps are for major cities only.
