Hey all,

So i have a nokia N95 8gb and get the free 2 years nokia maps all is fine and well till my phone stops working and gets replaced after they (Vodacom) can't fix it. Now my free 2 years has gone poof. I have a note in my nokia box that says the licence for the 2 years is locked to the device and is non transferable but surly if my phone dies and they give me a new one i should be able to get a new sub or atleast a transfer?

Any ideas if i can and who i could contact?

No, you cant get a transfer. Just like the Ngage 2.0 games, nokia is still working on the inter device license transfer ( Currently when u buy games on ngage, they are imei locked) so now unless u can change the imei, which i doubt is possible, then you won't tranfer. Nokia is working on something along the lines of a site to manage usage licenses among a user's devices.

Sorry, but you cannot.

When I loaded the two year Nokia Maps licence on my N82 I recall it making clear reference to the fact that the licence was valid for that specific handset only. In your situation I would approach Vodacom and tell them your story...

Do you loose this 2 year free license if you upgrade the phones firmware?

Is it worth updating to to the latest version, any noticable differeces?

Not noticed much, biggest one I use, although it's also painfull is auto screen rotate.
I need it to rotate the screen when I dump in on my dash for navigation, sliding the keypad out the other way blocks the GPS receiver too much.

I think in the end its all stability and speed improvements.

Don't worry too much 'bout Nokia Maps. Rather install Garmin Mobile XT. The only benefit IMO of Nokia Maps over the Garmin is the look-and-feel, but otherwise, Garmin beats the Nokia Maps handsdown!
