I think most people with a Nokia that has built-in gps will agree with me that it's just plain stupid to have A-GPS Nokia but upon purchasing the phone you must buy the Nokia Maps(apart from the Nokia's that has them pre-installed) as a subscription. Why?A person pays through his ears for the phone and then still has to buy the maps? That's insane. It cost me nothing to get Garmin XT on my phone and the SA Street Maps i got from a friend's Garmin Nuvi.No internet or subscription costs.Nokia, why are you ripping us off?Your views will be aprreciated...............:(

you're not limited to use Nokia maps, and the N82 comes with 2 yrs subscription
i am actually going to get XT and SA maps onto the N82 as I think its obviously better with voice navigation, dont let the maps thing hassle you, there are alternatives. I'm also going to find and install a decent MM player for divx etc. The main extras of the N96 is the additional memory and Graphics accelerator, but just not sure how much difference that makes, as all media plays flawless on the N82. Other than that the specs are identical in all the new Nokias. u just need to decide what u want in the phone, and of course, THE PRICE. N82 is downright affordable.

I've used Nokia Maps once. From home to work to see what it does. It's pathetic. I enetered the exact address with number and everything. It showed me that I've reached my destination almost 2km before I even was there. Garmin XT is 400% better.

For R1300 - R1700 you have navigation with voice guidence for life. And it works too.

To the OP, Garmin is not free.... you may have got it free illegally but that is not the norm!

You get two years voice navigation on Nokia Maps with your N82 Dudley. I can't recall the entire process but I think you upgrade within Nokia Maps and it activates your licence on your specific N82.

Just to correct you, the N82 has a hardware 3D graphics accelerater.

In terms of software for MM as you know the N82 comes with RealPlayer. I have added DivX Player and PowerMovie to give me more flexibility. There are a number of other options too.

cool well there we go, and the best thing is the price of the N82, no more can be said, if u eventually get a device, let us know what it is... :)

Out of interest, did your N82 box have the "Bonus content - 2 year free voice navigation" sticker on it? Mine did when I got it and I was quite surprised as it was not something Nokia or MTN had advertised at all!

My n82 did not come with this free 2 year voice navigation that you people speak about.anyway, since i got it 6 months ago i've never used Nokia Maps.i've been using Garmin Xt.Nokia Should consider selling their phones with Garmin. Its simply the best in the business.I mean Nokia Should only stick to making the phone hardware only.

i just used Nokla Maps V2 on my N82. Its wicked! Perfect guidance, I think its come a long way since Banana man tried it in the osse- wa days :)
I couldnt find anything wrong with it. Its complete with all the bells and whistles you would expect and then some more. I agree, it should come with the Nokias for at least 2 yrs subscription. I have to say I'm very happy with it.

I will still compare with XT though and see how they differ...

u have to load the SA maps via PCSuite then access Nokia maps and activate the subscription.

Like I said in the other thread, if you want to get personal send me a PM boet.

It's better being 32 and feeling like a 21 year old than being 24 and acting 12.
