Nokia Maps....Go Figure.....

I've not looked very carefully, but have already reported three errors in Nokia Maps 2 with NavTeq, the suppliers of the maps, and that's not counting the ones that Navteq have correct, but are still wrong on Nokia Maps 2. So, all in all, I'm not that impressed - I'll certainly not be parting with any money when the license expires.

can u be a little more specific? what errors? On the maps themselves?
one things for sure, I've also used Garmin and VC Satnav, and theres no such thing as a error free map. Thats the reality, but ya, while we can easily pirate XT, why the hell part with good money

I like Nokia maps 2.0. The maps are so pretty and the voice guidance is done in a less irritating way than the garmin XT one. The interface also makes a lot more sense. The nice thing about the garmin one is that you can also use it with Mapsource (the new version of mapsource is very pretty) your PC. You can also add all kinds of maps. The really important thing about the Garmin XT app is that you can load the garmap POIs (for speed traps and mobile hazards). Nokia maps 2.0 does not seem to have this. Because of this, I mainly use garmin XT.

Having a GPS phone with a bluetooth carkit is really useful.

Yes, on the maps themselves. I agree that no map is perfect, but I get a little annoyed when I submit an error report (taking my time and bandwidth to do so) to get told that I can click on the button on the right to buy a corrected version of the map. Additionally, updates must be regular and errors reported should be handled quickly, it shouldn't take six months to filter through the system.

Why indeed? Probably because it's theft? If you can go down to the robot at the end of the street and hijack a car, why the hell part with good money to buy one?

I use GarminXT by default but it is not as stable (even V5) as Nokia Maps 2.0

You should also update your map data for Nokia Maps regularly, just connect it to PC Suite and then run Nokia Map loader. Version 0.0.13h is even more up to date than the new Garmaps data.

I use Garmin XT v5.00.10. Lots of fixes. I don't have any problems with it at all.
